Homeownership is part of the American dream, but with homeownership comes added risks that you should not have to address on your own. Homeowners of Captiva, Florida, get to embrace a piece of the sunshine state while simultaneously taking on the risks of natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, and fires.
Navigating these perils and owning a home does not mean you have to do it alone. Pinnacle Claim Services is here to help you!
Most homeowners do not have experience working on home insurance claims, making the entire situation overwhelming and confusing. Property damage claims require quick action, so whatever you do—or don’t do—can seriously impact your ability to file a claim.
Our expert Captiva public adjusters are ready to take on insurance companies known to have lowball payouts when incidents happen. We are dedicated to providing top-notch service, detailed policy and claims reviews, and strategic negotiation strategies that increase your chance of a satisfactory payout.
Don’t let insurance companies make you think you have to do this on your own and settle for less. Call us at (954) 466-2954 to talk with a trusted team member, or contact us online to get started with an initial consultation.
After a hurricane or event that causes significant damage to your property, the first step is to collect the details and file a claim against your insurance policy.
But it is not always this simple. In many cases, homeowners are unsure how to go about this process or are likely to miss a minor detail in their policy. As a result, they end up losing out on a payout they otherwise could have received had they known.
Working with a public adjuster is the first step to make sure your claim is submitted on time and with all the necessary evidence showing the damages to your property.
Captiva Island has a colorful history, as in the location where the infamous pirate Gasparilla would hold female prisoners captive. Thus came the name Captiva, meaning female captive in Spanish.
Located north of Sanibel Island and 30 miles off the coast of Fort Myers, Captiva is often associated with Sanibel Island, one of the top beaches in the entire state.
Captiva is occupied by only 318 people. This small community has a lot to offer for residents and visitors alike; whether it is swimming, fishing, boating, collecting sea shells, sunbathing, or nature watching, there is something to do for everyone.
Captiva has not seen much recent development, and it is intended to remain that way to preserve the island’s habitat and beauty. It is only accessible by boat or by a small bridge at Blind Pass, shared with Sanibel Island.
Downtown Captiva is known for its pubs and bistros, where guests can enjoy fresh seafood or they can go shopping at one of the most famous buildings on the island called the Island Store, which was constructed in 1915. The island is part of the Fort Myers metropolitan area.
Those who do reside on Captiva Island live in paradise but are also at the forefront when a storm comes to shore. While storms are not the only risk for those who live and work on the island, they do carry serious impacts on buildings, boats, cars, and personal items.
Hurricanes are tropical cyclones that can carry winds of more than 150 mph. This low-pressure system can bring in tornados, hail, lightning, and torrential rain that can lead to flooding, and the storm can affect a geographical area for many hours.
Flooding is especially dangerous for those living in coastal areas like Captiva Island, as the land sits at sea level.
In fact, Captiva Island was initially one island until a storm in 1921 devastated the island and created what is known as Redfish Pass. The storm that hit was so severe that it permanently changed the islands’ geography.
The last storm to hit Captiva Island was Hurricane Ian in 2022, which battered much of the western coast and central Florida. When hurricane Ian made landfall just north in Charlotte County, it brought winds up to 150 mph and a storm surge of 12 feet, damaging beaches, public areas, and private and commercial properties.
Another record-hitting storm to hit the island was Hurricane Charley. In 2004, Hurricane Charley took a northern turn towards Florida when it was over Cuba as a category 3 storm.
Charlie directly made its way to the west coast, entering through the Captiva and Sanibel Islands as a category 4 storm and carrying a storm surge of 6.5 feet and winds that reached 150 mph. The damage to the island was incredible.
The Pinnacle promise is simple:
Our goal is to make sure to provide the best possible service to create better chances for a payout that matches the terms of the insurance policy you pay for.
The Pinnacle team is ready to tackle your claim with our initial free 3-step process:
Your public adjuster will conduct their own investigation alongside the adjuster representing your insurer. Your adjuster’s role will be to document and gather evidence showing proof of your claim and look for any minor details that the insurance adjuster may have missed.
Sadly, insurance adjusters work exclusively for your insurance company and sometimes tend to miss things that a public adjuster would not. Your insurance company’s adjuster is not there to make things easier for you! But we are!
Our expert team is ready and able to review and analyze the insurance policy you pay for to understand the coverages, deductibles, and whether there are any smaller benefits you might be entitled to.
When a homeowner chooses to file a claim on their own, often they are not experts in insurance or do not understand all of the jargon associated with home insurance policies. Unfortunately, this means they can miss out on the payout they would have otherwise gotten.
When we review insurance policies, we look for hidden clauses, caps, and deductibles. We compare your policy’s coverage with the damages your property endured and look for anything that would argue otherwise.
In some cases, homeowner insurance policies carry hidden clauses that provide an unknown benefit to their claim. Especially in cases where there are a couple of hidden clauses, the policyholder may find that these quickly add up and can make a difference in their payout.
Insurance companies might not be happy seeing these additional numbers on your claim, but when it is on your policy and there is evidence of the damages that occurred, they likely need to add that to your payout.
The Pinnacle team is ready to represent you if your claim requires negotiation.
Not all claims are simple and easily paid out. In some cases, homeowners may find their insurance is unwilling to pay for certain damages and will use intimidation and other tactics to get a homeowner to agree to less than they should receive.
While you are working with Pinnacle Claim Services, you are not only letting us handle your claim, but you will also find that any needed negotiations are handled through our team. Our public adjusters know the tactics and acts of intimidation that insurance companies do, but we, good public adjusters, will not let them be swayed by those strategies.
We have prepared our own strategies to help negotiate with insurance companies and provide the backup as needed, whether that be evident or what it says on the policy you pay for.
Our team of public adjusters all carry business insurance because if we were to drop the ball, it would affect our clients. Our business insurance guarantees that we will do what we can to make sure we don’t mess up.
Working with an insured public adjuster makes our relationships with our clients one of trust and confidence, where we are determined to make things right and do whatever is possible to increase the chances of a better payout.
Choosing to work with a public adjuster to help process your insurance claim might be the best option for you. Know that while you work with one of Pinnacle’s public adjusters, you will find your claim handled by a professional team with many years of experience in the industry and in the Captiva area.
They will help your helping hand every step of the way. Find confidence in your claim as you let Pinnacle Claim Services Public Adjusters handle it.

Some of the most common issues people experience with insurance companies after property damage has occurred and a claim has been initiated include: unreasonable delay on the part of the insurance company, inadequate training of the insurance company’s adjusters and adjusters that are “so busy” that your claim gets zero attention and does not progress towards resolution. Additionally, you may not have the appropriate policy with the right type of coverage or limits.
There is no set time period for settling a property damage claim with an insurance company and each claim is different. You could receive a check in a few days or it could be a few weeks. Also, it may take multiple rounds of negotiations and payments for you to be adequately and justly compensated for your claim.
Absolutely not. Some companies do possess better reputations than others and there are some who consistently delay the process unnecessarily. It’s important that you comply with your “duties after the loss” (duty to mitigate etc.) Call us, we can help!
